Every artist encounters critique from their peers at some point, particularly in the visual arts. Photographers may say your images are too dark, while painters may criticize your color choices or the precision of your lines. Regardless, if you create, there will always be someone to suggest you're doing it incorrectly. They might even wish for you to view the world through their lens rather than your own. However, as an artist, it's your duty to share your unique vision with the world, not to conform to what you believe the world expects of you. Understand this distinction. Your art is a reflection of yourself. Welcome all that your senses perceive about the world around you. Some will adore it, others will despise it, and a few may not understand it. And that's perfectly fine; it's an inherent part of the artistic journey.

Having worked as a photographer, I've encountered various suggestions like "brighten the image," "remove that element," "enhance the skin," and "the shadows are too dark." However, my approach is different. When I set out to capture a place or a specific scene, I have a clear vision of what I want to convey to the world. If there are dark shadows in my photos, it's intentional. I focus on specific aspects of the image, so I'm not concerned about every detail being visible. If the flowers don't stand out, it's because they are not the main focus. And if a person isn't heavily edited in Photoshop or Lightroom, it's because I aim to capture their essence, imperfections included, as part of the story I want to tell.

As a creative individual, it is crucial to be DELIBERATE! This quality distinguishes you from the masses. Pablo Picasso continues to be both adored and mocked, yet it's unlikely we'll witness another artist of his caliber. The works of Ansel Adams may seem mundane to some, yet others view them as extraordinary. It all boils down to personal taste. Never let the preferences of others limit your creative expression. Seek out your audience and cater to them—even if that audience is solely you. When you remain authentic to your artistic vision, the world will, in time, recognize your efforts.

BE CREATIVE. BE PATIENT. BE DELIBERATE.
